The Opportunity

TheChisel is seeking exceptional upperclass college students, graduate students, and recent college graduates for an exclusive opportunity to work in our New York City office with senior company team members, including our Founder/Chief Citizens’ Officer and our Chief Policy Officer.

This hands-on experience gives interns with superlative critical thinking skills, work ethic, and a passion for democracy the chance to explore the exciting intersection of public policy and social media.

Do you have expertise and interest in . . .?

  • Public Policy Analysis – quantitative research and writing in politics, economics, or social sciences; we’re serious about the quant part!
  • Database Management
  • Organizing and Marketing special events, panel discussions, and conferences with top leaders in business, academia, and government; and exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
  • Graphic design — whimsical illustrators who can conceptualize, design, and execute highly-creative visual expressions and present statistics, marketing collateral, and social media with a sense of humor

Non-negotiables: You . . .

  • maintain the highest standards of integrity
  • are committed to promoting multi-partisan public policy solutions; open-minded; and eager to work with like-minded people from across the political spectrum
  • are insatiably curious, creative, resourceful, analytical, and crackerjack smart
  • are just as comfortable with words as with numbers (minimum score of 600 for each of SAT Math and Reading/Writing)
  • think and act collaboratively
  • thrive on taking initiative and getting the job done
  • are quick to laugh and make others laugh

All internships offer a monthly stipend.

Previous Interns

We’ve had analysts and interns from Brown, Williams, Northwestern, MIT, Princeton, Drexel, Pratt, Trinity College Dublin, University of Missouri, and France; some are returning for permanent roles.


Internships are for a minimum of 6-12 months, with rolling acceptance and commencement dates.

Summer internships will be considered for exceptional candidates.
