The government subsidizes tobacco more than apples which, to me, sounds ridiculous as it is detrimental to public health. If tobacco subsidies are taken down and funds saved are transferred to other crop subsidies, who will be more affected, the big Agri businesses or family farms? See more

A key problem outlined is that the incumbent tends to outspend the challenger. I think there should be a donation cap for out-of-district donors and big entities, and an overall spending cap for campaigns. Elections are supposed to be about a candidate's platform, integrity, and intellectual ability; not the amount of money spent on a campaign. See more

I agree! I also think that the first step should be to require public schools who receive federal funding for school lunch to source their food from local family farms and eliminate unhealthy food choices in school lunch menus. See more

Very interesting suggestion. Moreover, maybe food subsidies for big AgriBusinesses that plant corn should be reduced and instead increase subsidies for fruit and vegetables planted by small family farms. See more
