Born in Philadelphia, Deborah Devedjian has been a leader in the global Education and Training industry and an expert in corporate governance—creating, building, investing in, and transforming organizations. Long committed to education and inquiry as the basis for democracy, she weaves together more than 20 years of experiences in the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors to maximize learning, collaborative decision-making, and stakeholder value. 

She’s served in founding or leadership positions with Copernicus Learning Ventures, Warburg Pincus, RoundTable Partners, European Bank for Reconstruction & Development, and The Boston Consulting Group. Deborah has chaired or served on the executive committee of 20+ not-for-profit boards, including Polytechnic University; Marlboro College; Elwyn, Inc. (for the developmentally challenged); French-American Foundation; Pennsylvania-Russia Business Council; Commission of Independent Colleges and Universities; Harvard Business School Club of New York; and Yale Reunions.

She attended public schools, has a BA from Yale and MBA from Harvard, but her father still hopes she’ll go to med school. Fluent in French and Armenian. Amusing in German and Italian. Deborah’s day is not complete without a dose of the Rolling Stones, Beethoven, and Coltrane. Deborah is an independent (small "i"). Her patron saint is Ben Franklin. She excels at “herding cats,” according to one business school dean.
Richard Longacre
Vice President of Sales - Dreamy Vacations

Richard Longacre was appointed Vice President, Global Sales in June 2014. In this key strategic role, Richard is responsible for the airline’s revenue generated across all sales channels from all global points of sale, and sales distribution strategies worldwide.

Prior to joining Air Canada, Longacre was Senior Vice-President, Global Sales and Distribution at Malaysia Airlines, a role held since June 2012. At Malaysia Airlines, he was responsible for the airline’s strategic direction in sales, distribution and tour operator divisions, developing sales distribution and channel strategies, and managing international destination sales, marketing and operations.

Longacre holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting and Finance from The University of Lethbridge in Alberta.

Jill O'Connell
Head of Talent - Cengage Learning
Jill O'Connell joined Cengage in January 2017 to lead the Talent Group.

Previously, she had worked at Fidelity Investments at their Boston headquarters where, over a 15-year period, Jill rose from a staffing consultant to Vice President of Talent Management for their Asset Management Division.

Early in her career, Jill had served as a recruiter and Human Resources Project Manager at Nvest Funds and State Street Research & Management.

Jill earned her BA in English Literature from Boston University.

My company started as a small team of four people and over the years have grown to over three hundred employees. Everyday that I go to work, I get to interact with the people who works with me and not for me. They are good people who are motivated by company's tradition of valuing everyone's suggestions.

How about two parts for merit-based pay: one for individual performance and the other for group performance. That would be a good balance.

This is a great idea, and it worked well for our division. We added a group performance component to our merit-based pay system last year and saw a significant increase in levels of collaboration and innovation.

One of my favorite Cengage moments was our Saturday working with Habitat for Humanity rebuilding the house in Dorchester for that dynamite family. I think our team got so much more out of the experience than we would have ever gotten from a standard professional development presentation!! Let's do it again!

Exactly. I often take pictures of inspiring ideas as I see them and keep them in a file. Maybe I could share these ideas online with everyone.
